Dear NAECE Members,
At the North American Energy Cooperation Effort (NAECE), we recognize that a unified and cooperative North America is essential to the long-term prosperity, energy security, and environmental sustainability of our continent. Whether under the framework of USMCA, NAFTA, or any future agreements, our belief is clear — North America is stronger when we work together.
History has shown the tangible benefits of regional cooperation. From the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which significantly expanded cross-border trade and investment, to the U.S.-Canada energy partnership, which has ensured stable and integrated energy flows across the continent, our region has consistently demonstrated the power of working together. Similarly, cross-border energy infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, electricity transmission networks, and renewable energy collaborations, have played a key role in improving reliability, affordability, and innovation.
These past successes have laid the groundwork for our shared future. In the face of global energy challenges, including the transition to cleaner energy sources, supply chain resilience, and environmental responsibility, it is more important than ever to strengthen North American collaboration.
NAECE continues to support efforts that:
- Foster seamless trade and cross-border investments, reducing unnecessary barriers between Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
- Promote transparency, accountability, and harmonized standards across North American energy systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and sustainability.
- Encourage shared innovation and technology development, making North America a global leader in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and ethical resource management.
- Advance coordinated environmental and climate goals, recognizing that environmental challenges do not stop at national borders.
While the political and economic frameworks that guide our cooperation may evolve, the underlying truth does not change — our energy systems, supply chains, and environmental responsibilities are deeply interconnected. As NAECE members, your work directly contributes to building this collaborative future, ensuring that North America leads the way in responsible energy production, innovation, and ethical business practices.
We encourage all our members to continue supporting policies, practices, and partnerships that reinforce a unified North American energy vision, not only to benefit individual businesses and sectors but to strengthen the economic and environmental future of our entire continent.
Together, we can build on the historic successes of North American cooperation and pave the way for a sustainable and prosperous energy future for generations to come.
Sincerely,
James Mallon
Executive Director
North American Energy Cooperation Effort (NAECE)
